The Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans consistently receives high praise for its luxurious accommodations, prime location near the French Quarter, and exceptional service. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in service levels, maintenance issues, and occasional outdated facilities, impacting the overall ‘Ritz Experience’ for some guests. Despite these concerns, many guests rave about the exceptional staff, particularly concierge and club level experiences, and the hotel’s ambiance.
Great location. The executive suite is pretty, but unlike the pictures on their website our bedroom had no window, felt a little claustrophobic. I noticed the tiles inside the shower were cracked and stained. Service was a little inconsistent in some areas, but nothing too, too major. For example, I love going back to a cozy room in the evening, but turndown service was done only once during our stay. Little things like this, not the end of the world, but not what you'd expect at the Ritz. Staff was very kind. Good champagne selection, I loved the oyster Rockefeller, but I can't say the same for their gumbo. Nice hotel but I would not say it offers the "Ritz Experience".
The hotel is beautiful and opulent, but the hotel's elegance doesn't match the surrounding area. The Canal and Bourbon Street area is seedy. This hotel would be better situated in the Garden District, or somewhere that is less of a tourist trap, near museums or better restaurants. James at the front desk and Michael, the bellman, were both great, but overall this place's staff was disappointing. The vibe reminded me of American Horror Story Hotel. The concierge dropped the ball. I called him to request a dinner reservation at one of five restaurants, was put on hold forever, and then disconnected. I called back several times, and no one answered. I asked for a FedEx form to ship a package, and it took five requests for someone to finally find one because they "don't normally have any," even though the hotel has a business center. I was told, "Not to be flip, but we're not a package service." (Well, not to be flip, but this isn't a five-star property, then.) It costs nothing to have FedEx forms available to guests. If I had to stay in this area again, I'd probably choose the Marriott a few blocks away because there's a FedEx inside.
My stay at The Ritz Carlton, New Orleans was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I experienced true Southern hospitality combined with the luxury and excellence the Ritz Carlton is known for. I celebrated my birthday during my stay, and one of the most memorable moments was when the harpist surprised me by playing "Happy Birthday." It was such a thoughtful and elegant gesture that made the celebration feel truly special. The spa was phenomenal peaceful, luxurious, and incredibly rejuvenating. I also thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tub, which provided the perfect place to unwind. The complimentary gifts were a wonderful touch that made me feel genuinely valued as a guest. A very special thank you to Concierge Hillery Hardy, who was absolutely outstanding. Hillery's hospitality, professionalism, and extensive knowledge of New Orleans elevated my entire experience. Every recommendation was excellent, every request was handled with care, and Hillery consistently went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. This level of personalized service is exactly what makes The Ritz Carlton stand apart. Also the house keeping team was amazing and organized all my belongings. Tea Time was another unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was elegant, the selection was delightful, and it was the perfect way to relax and enjoy the afternoon. Every member of the staff made me feel welcomed, appreciated, and cared for. If you're looking for luxury, exceptional service, and an unforgettable experience in New Orleans, The Ritz Carlton, New Orleans is the place to stay. I highly recommend it and can't wait to return!
Patricia made my entire experience at the Ritz?Carlton a true 10 out of 10. I mentioned I loved mint in my drink, and she literally went all the way upstairs to find some just to elevate my experience. That level of care is rare, and it meant so much. Kevin was also incredible, and together they’re the reason I’ll always choose the Ritz?Carlton. The service here is unmatched. And to be clear — every bartender I interacted with was amazing. This team is something special.
What a big disappointment. Visited this hotel for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Checked in, advised our room was amazing, with fantastic views, of the city and the canal. Entered the room, looked at the view and over looking the back of the hotel. Great start. No acknowledgement of our anniversary, when most hotels do and even restaurants. I had ordered some champagne and strawberries to be sent to the room, never turned up. The hotel did give us $100 for the first day of errors. Next day went to the hotel bar, ordered some fries and drinks. After 40 min wait the waiter forgot them as sent them to another table. Reception staff are very sarcastic. Stayed in the Ritz before and this is by far the worst one we have stayed in. Room was even cleaned on one of the days. For a 5 star hotel, very poor. Breakfast was ok, omelette was not great, cheese all rubbery. Somethings we have missed off, but if you want a 5 star hotel in New Orleans look at other ones and brands.
We stayed here for 4 nights - family of 3 traveling with a child. The service is excellent - staff were very attentive throughout our stay. The hotel restaurant had great food and drinks. That said, I would book a different property for the following reasons: Common areas, carpets and rooms were quite dated. What may have looked great in the late 90s/early 2000s now looks worn. The hotel has a musty smell to it. The pool is extremely small and didn’t seem well maintained. The gym was ok. The street and location right outside is also a bit gritty. I’m not sure I’d walk with little children. For the Ritz, it leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel is long overdue for upgrades/renovation. I’d recommend booking a recently built; more modern property by the water, where it is quieter.
Ideal location for your French Quarter stay. Close enough to easily walk to the action but not loud & crowded as it would be if you were in the heart of the Quarter. This hotel is so lovely & well appointed. Service is above & beyond at all levels- valet, check-in, restaurants. Even our turn down service was a notch above by taking the time to move our suitcases from the floor to luggage racks (we were in a hurry at check in and didn’t have much time to unpack). The art, the aesthetic- it’s not dated & dilapidated but also feels old & elegant. A must stay property!
This is a great Ritz in every way, located in an amazing part of town and an incredible part of the country. The lobby bar and live music are exceptional—the overall experience of music, beverages, and dining is outstanding. The rooms are above average, and I highly recommend the Club Level. The live music at the Davenport Lounge was a highlight, and our servers were attentive and excellent. The only minor drawback is that, due to the size of the hotel and the historic buildings it occupies, rooms can be located down long hallways, and multiple entrances can make navigating a bit confusing. That said, this is simply part of the charm of staying in a historic property, and the Ritz does a strong job of managing these challenges. Overall, this is a highly recommended hotel and a very fun place to visit with friends and family.
I had the pleasure of attending a three-day bridal conference here this week and the event staff truly made the experience exceptional. From start to finish, their level of service, attention to detail, and genuine care for every guest did not go unnoticed. Coordinating an event of this size over multiple days is no small task, yet everything felt seamless and thoughtfully managed. The team was consistently professional, welcoming and incredibly attentive which created such a positive atmosphere for everyone attending. Thank you to the entire staff for the hard work, hospitality and care you put into making the event such a success. It was truly appreciated!!
We’ve been staying at the Ritz whenever we have the opportunity to visit New Orleans, and it has become our favorite place to stay in the city. Of all the Ritz properties I have experienced, this one stands out as my favorite. Every visit leaves a lasting impression and reminds us why we keep coming back. For our most recent stay we booked the club level, and it was absolutely worth it. The club lounge experience was exceptional, with incredible food presentations throughout the day, from breakfast to evening offerings. Everything was beautifully prepared and consistently delicious, and the lounge itself provides a relaxed, elegant space to unwind. The service there was just as impressive as the rest of the hotel, with staff who were attentive, friendly, and clearly dedicated to making every guest feel welcome. One of the things that really stood out during this stay was how amazing the recent renovations are. The property feels refreshed and beautifully updated while still maintaining the classic elegance and charm that makes it feel like a true Ritz-Carlton experience. The rooms and common areas feel luxurious, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The location is another huge advantage. It is perfectly situated with easy access to the French Quarter and many of New Orleans’ most iconic attractions, restaurants, and entertainment. It is close enough to walk almost anywhere you want to go while still feeling like a quiet, refined retreat when you return to the hotel. What truly sets this property apart, though, is the staff. The team here is impeccable. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, everyone you encounter is warm, professional, and genuinely eager to ensure your stay is perfect. That level of hospitality is what turns a great hotel into a truly memorable experience. This property continues to set the standard for us whenever we visit New Orleans. It is elegant, welcoming, beautifully maintained, and consistently delivers an outstanding stay. Highly recommended. We cannot wait for our next visit.
