Recent reviews indicate a decline in service quality and property maintenance.
Well... We rented the room three weeks prior through expedia, got there to check in and found our 600 sq foot SUITE was turned into a 300 square ft ROOM. -" it was a headache to get expedia to refund the differance, but eventually it was done.."-- At first, we were told the floor with the suites was completely sold out. -They don't know why we had that room, and then we were told it was due to plumbing issues. When we talked to another lady.. Had a great night at Caesars right across the street. . - They were not greedy!!! Only to wake up to a notice under the door that water would not be available from noon to 4. Unfortunately, I woke up a few minutes too late. Did not get a shower... The bar and restaurant decided it was too slow, so they closed the whole thing down at like eight o'clock.. That was supposed to close at 10. Then to top it off, went to take the kids swimming and the swimming pool was closed at 8:30 pm. Weather was clear, but the outside says 10. Still have three more nights here......
The DoubleTree on Canal Street is in a great location, and a few of the staff members (like the valet and one female agent) were very nice, but the rest of my experience was terrible.I have severe asthma and sensitive skin, so I requested a very clean room. Instead, I walked into a room covered in dust on the nightstands and baseboards, with dirty shower walls. On top of that, our room for three guests only had one face towel, and the main white blanket was heavily stained and dirty. When I noticed the elevators were messed up and went to ask about it, an older woman at the front desk was incredibly rude to me. She snapped and told me I should 'read the sign on the elevator,' which I hadn't seen. The hotel really needs to let guests know upon check-in that you have to scan your room key to even use the elevator, because guests do not know that. The worst part was the night service. We called down twice for a clean blanket and towels. Both times a male worker promised to send them up, but they lied and never did. I was forced to sleep under a dirty blanket that triggered my health sensitivities. When my sister finally went to the lobby to get them herself, the security guard aggressively argued with her, lying to her face that he had already brought them up. Once he finally handed over the linens, the two men at the desk openly laughed at my sister as she walked back to the elevators. It is unacceptable to mock guests, lie to them, and ignore health requests. They offered no compensation or complimentary breakfast for this horrible customer service. Front desk management needs serious intervention
Rarely do I give a 5 star rating for all the categories, but this hotel hit all the marks. The room was spacious and clean, bathroom didn't have the horrible ZERO brand shampoo, soap and lotion that so many Hilton properties have. We had a nice view, but a room a bit higher would have had a better view. Our view was of the pool and the entrance of the casino next door. While that was fun to watch the goings on, a few floors higher might have had a better view of the river. My only negitive to share is that the breakfast was crazy overpriced. I realize it is in New Orleans, but I would put the value of the $20.00 contental breakfast offered at about $4.00 worth of food and service. The only thing vaguely New Orleans themed were the croissants, and they didn't seem any more decadent than your basic bulk food store offering. A bottle of diet coke in the vending machine on the floor was $2.00, not terrible, but the same size was $5.00 in their "pantry". There was an exercize room, but I honestly didn't use it. I was so exausted each night after a day of walking. It is located in a great spot, just barely walkable to most everything I wanted to do such as the WWII museum, riverwalk, French Quarter, Convention Center, but it also is right on the Trolly route, so that was easy as well. Would I stay there again? YEP Would I bring my on pantry breakfast items? YEP Would I recomend this hotel? Yes, but maybe not for familes with younger kids.
Nice hotel in a good location. You can’t hear much outside, but the walls are thin. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Hospitality was top notch! Cookies and fruit water (when available) are nice! Breakfast buffet is $25 and not really worth it. You can walk down the street and find less expensive and a better breakfast. JS :-/
I want to start by saying the front desk staff, particularly, Antoinette, and those in the dining area were incredibly kind, patient, and helpful throughout our stay. They were a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating experience. Unfortunately, the room itself did not meet ADA accessibility expectations. We specifically booked an ADA room with a roll-in shower for my husband, who is wheelchair-bound. While the bathroom did include a roll-in shower and the appropriate turning radius, however, the bedroom was too small to allow for proper wheelchair turning radius or even T-turn space. This made it extremely difficult for him to move around the room or access the bed comfortably and safely. For context - ADA requires unobstructed 36” width “lanes” in a T-turn space. The lanes in our room were not wide enough - hovering at about 30”. I have stayed at multiple Hilton properties before and have never encountered this issue. Even in rooms with two queen beds, there has always been adequate space for wheelchair maneuverability. In past situations where a roll-in shower was booked but unavailable, Hilton properties have gone above and beyond to relocate us to another room or even another property that could meet our needs. That level of service was not offered during this stay. Additionally, very few of the outlets in the room were functioning, which added to the inconvenience. Accessible features are not optional. They are essential. When a room is advertised as ADA-compliant, it should fully meet those standards. I appreciate the kindness of the staff, but I hope the hotel addresses these issues so future guests do not face the same challenges.
What stood out most during my stay was the incredible customer service. Leanna was always greeting guests with a smile and making everyone feel welcome. The highlight was receiving a handwritten birthday card from her. truly made my 70th birthday memorable. The professionalism and positive attitude helped create such a warm atmosphere. It’s rare to find a team that genuinely cares, and it definitely shows here. Everyone was amazing. I will be back. One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had! ???
I have been traveling extensively for over 20 years and have stayed in countless hotels, but my recent stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton New Orleans was hands-down the best experience I have ever had. From the moment I arrived, every single staff member went above and beyond. The receptionists were incredibly pleasant, helpful, and accommodating, setting a wonderful tone for the entire trip. That outstanding service extended across the board—the bartenders, the valets, and the concierges were all absolutely phenomenal. I was also deeply impressed by the housekeeping team. Unlike many hotels with strict, early windows for room cleaning, they were incredibly flexible. Even when I didn't leave my room until 11:30 AM or noon, they still came in and made sure everything was perfectly cleaned and refreshed. The entire building is immaculate and beautifully maintained. I would highly recommend this hotel to absolutely anyone visiting New Orleans. In fact, I would travel back to the city just to stay at this property again because of how great they made my experience.
We chose this hotel because of its excellent location near the port — you can even walk there, which is perfect if you’re going on a cruise. We arrived around noon, and although our rooms were not ready yet, we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel and go explore the surrounding area. Customer service was excellent from the moment we arrived. The front desk receptionist was very kind and helped us get two connecting rooms for our family, even though we had two separate reservations. We also received a call letting us know our rooms were ready around 2:30 p.m., earlier than expected, and the check-in process was quick and smooth. The warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in were delicious and such a nice touch. The rooms were comfortable and clean — not luxurious, but perfect for a one-night stay before boarding a cruise. You can tell the property has some wear and tear, but everything was clean. We had one small issue with a minibar water bottle that had already been opened and was partially used. I mentioned it to the front desk, and they handled the situation very professionally by apologizing and not charging me for the replacement bottle, which I really appreciated. For breakfast, we bought coffee and pastries at PJ’s Coffee located on the ground floor, which was reasonably priced and good quality. Overall, this hotel is a great option because of its location, friendly service, and convenience. It’s close to the port, French Quarter, outlets, and Riverwalk, making it an ideal choice for a pre-cruise stay. I would definitely recommend it!
The hotel staff were welcoming and friendly. I was initially assigned to a room on the 15th floor, but the shower had mold in it. After I called the front desk to report it, I did feel like my room was downgraded when they reassigned me. The next room wasn’t bad, but it definitely wasn’t as spacious as the first one. On the new floor I was moved to, either the ice machine or the vending machine seemed to be leaking because the carpet in that area was wet and it smelled like mildew, which was a little unpleasant when walking through the hallway. Aside from those issues, the hotel is in a really good location. It’s an easy walk to Bourbon Street and other nearby spots, which made getting around very convenient.
Loved this place! Short walk to Bourbon St, Jackson Sq, and Riverwalk! Antoinette checked us in and she was amazing! Very sweet and welcoming! Room was clean and the complimentary cookies were delicious! Highly recommend!
