Guests generally appreciate the Courtyard by Marriott New Orleans French Quarter/Iberville's prime location within walking distance of the French Quarter and Bourbon Street, despite some ongoing issues with room cleanliness, inconsistent service, and confusing building layout. While many highlight comfortable beds and convenient amenities like connections to the Ritz-Carlton, recurring complaints center around housekeeping issues, temperature control problems, and difficulties locating the check-in area.
What you need to know: housekeeping will STILL enter your room when you are not there, even if the Do Not Disturb sign is out! I stayed for a week and had the Do Not Disturb sign out the entire stay. One of the days I returned in the evening, only to find one long, stray, black hair right in the middle of my bathroom floor! I have short, blond hair. So explain that? I get they may have to come in briefly to inventory water bottle consumption, but they shouldn't even really do that, if you have indicated DO NOT ENTER. To me that means stay out of the room, right? Also the water is in the couch area, so why did they need to go into my bathroom? Had I not read these other reviews before I got here, I would've had a very hard time locating the check-in desk. It's on the 2nd floor, paired with an elevator that's for a completely different hotel: the Ritz-Carlton. Even the elevator to leave, is hard to find. There's not good signage. The Bonvoy app and the reservation confirmation email, do not explain check-in location well at all! Just hard to navigate this building's unintuitive layout. I did check-in via the app, so didn't need to stop at the desk, but when I walked by, the lady had her nose in her phone and didn't even look up nor acknowledge me. Later it was improved, as I would walk past to exit, an employee would say "have a nice time!," which was appreciated. The bed was extremely comfortable. I liked the effective blackout blind. There is no restaurant. And it would be a nightmare for any food delivery service to try to be able to find you (vis a vis the front desk), anyway. Luckily there are PLENTY of walkable, excellent options starting at only one block away. Might I recommend Killer Po'boys for an EXCELLENT roast beef debris, dressed. It was so amazing; I'm still thinking about it all the way from Texas. Hotel spaces were clean and well-kept, overall. If you are doing phone app check-in (keyless), be ready for the app to get hung-up, and you're "locked out" of your room and have to get a plastic key, anyway, which the faulty app is not the hotel's fault, but I was standing there with a heavy handful of hot to-go food, unable to get into my 9th floor room, without having to go ALL THE WAY back from where I had just been on 2! The coffee place, I never saw it open, once. It closes at an unreasonably early hour of like 10:30AM. The balconies in the lobby are locked and off-limits, with a sign pretending "construction in progress." I was there 7 days and never saw any work being done. This should be disclosed up front. Don't have pictures advertising balconies that cannot be accessed. Do go to the Davenport Lounge, connected in the Ritz! It was an exceptional experience! The dimly lit, live jazz atmosphere is "old money," yet the prices are not outrageous, but comparable to other nearby dining. Service was impeccable. It was like being transported to a 1940s supper club. Very cozy, very cush, would make a TERRIFIC special occasion celebration spot! Overall, an okay stay at the hotel. Location was IDEAL! Otherwise, nothing spectacular here.
As a family of 4, we stayed in the king beds suite and the layout was perfect for us! Kids had their own side of the room with the bathroom separating the sleeping areas. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. We used the valet service and it was easy getting in and out for our day trips-they were quick!
We stayed here for jazz fest 2026. The hotel and room itself were very clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. We arrived at least 3 hours before check in thinking we would just drop off our bags but they actually had a room ready for us that met our room requests (higher floor, away from elevator). This hotel is easy walking distance to all the French quarter sites but is far enough away from bourbon st that you won’t be bothered by the noise at night! The room layout is great especially if you have a snoring sleep partner - there’s a sliding door to separate bedroom from living room/couch area.
The hotel is very well located—just one block from Bourbon Street. The room was spacious, comfortable, and overall very pleasant. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large, and there was even a cozy sitting area. However, I did have a few issues during my stay. I requested early housekeeping service, but when we returned at 3 PM, the room still hadn’t been cleaned. We were traveling with a service dog, and occasionally had to leave him in the room for a couple of hours, so having the room cleaned earlier was important to us. I also want to mention something about the check-in experience. I understand this may be partly cultural, but when we arrived, the two women at the front desk didn’t greet us and barely spoke to us throughout the process. Instead, they were engaged in a conversation with each other about some expensive drinks they had purchased—laughing and chatting about something completely unrelated to their work. This felt unprofessional, as basic customer service expectations were not met. Lastly, I found it a bit surprising that for a stay costing around $1,000 for four nights, the hotel didn’t provide even a single complimentary bottle of water. It seems like a small and inexpensive gesture that would go a long way in improving the guest experience. Overall, the location and room comfort are great, but the service could definitely be improved.
Id say you get what you pay for, but we actually paid quite a bit for this room. The shower and sink were both not draining. I was standing in water up to my ankles im the shower, which is quite disgusting in a hotel. When I went down to ask if we could get it looked at, they told me maintenance would fix. However, when we got back to our room that night, not only had maintenance not been there, but neither had housekeeping. Luckily, it was only a 2 night stay, so we checked out the next morning.
I was really happy with my stay here. The price was very affordable. We loved how large our room was (we loved that it was a suite with a separate bedroom/living area). The snack area was nice to have, as was the restaurant. A huge plus was that the hotel was connected to the Ritz Carlton; we were in town for a convention at the Ritz, and it was a huge bonus that we could go back and forth without having to walk outside. We felt that the hotel was very well-decorated, and really liked the color schemes. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. The heating unit worked well. We also had great experience with all of the staff members we interacted with. The location was perfect, too - walking distance from tons of great restaurants and Jackson Square! This is definitely our go-to in New Orleans now.
We had such a pleasant stay at the Courtyard by Marriott French Quarter. Our room and bathroom were big enough with lots of room to move around. The room was cleaned quickly and thoroughly daily. The location is great, walking distance from anywhere in the French Quarter but tucked along a quiet street. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and gracious the whole time. One night I had a big fall on Bourbon Street (I’m sure they happens quite a bit) that I didn’t realize cut me pretty deep until I was back at the hotel. I called the front desk at 1am to see if they had bandaids/first aid equipment and they brought up some bandaids and alcohol wipes within a few minutes. That was a nice gesture and so convenient, I was prepared to change again to run to a CVS nearby but they saved me that trip. We would for sure book this hotel again for a future trip to New Orleans.
Hotel was sooooo perfectly located. Couldnt beat the location. The rooms seemed to be renovated and were really nice. There was little to no staff interaction which is ok. The GSA that checked us in had great energy and gave us a great introduction to NOLA. She really set the tone for the trip.
Tyrone working inside the Starbucks set me up on a cold night with hot cocoa and Baileys. The front desk was so helpful with our millions of random questions. The ac/heat worked great and the maintenance guy was johnny on the spot with any minor issues. Recommend 2 King beds as the bed closest to the window has a slider barn-style door. (The bathroom is in between the 2 beds for added privacy and quiet. ) Hotel is perfect location. Not too close to noisy Bourbon and just close enough to the riverfront area. My only complaint is the beds are just way too soft and I woke up with a backache. I would come back but ask for a different room.
My apologies, I forgot the name of the lady that checked us in. One of the most accommodating front desk experience I've had. I'd like to add when I asked during check-in for extra towels, housekeeping beat me to the room with providing the accommodation! Every staff was nice and welcoming that includes the valet staff as well. PS: The noise level from the Party folks of celebrating the New Year to the Sugar Bowl folks was amazing! Have a blessed year with business!
