Recent guest reviews for the Moxy New Orleans/Downtown French Quarter Area reveal a mixed experience. While many praise the helpful and friendly staff, particularly Hollis and Jalisa, significant issues with room cleanliness, malfunctioning amenities (like AC and outlets), and persistent issues with check-in procedures have significantly impacted guest satisfaction. Despite the hotel’s location and some positive aspects, substantial improvements are needed to address these recurring problems.
I just Checked into this hotel and the customer service was so horrible that when i got To my original room it was actually another customer's room. I felt so embarrassed. You would think that with an establishment like this they would at least upgrade you or do something to make you feel better. He then offered me a room on a lower floor after me requesting at the time of booking to be in a high floor. We were told the valet parking was 38 a night only to get her and then they say it's 47 a night. I cant believe i spent my money here. The ac's in the room are horrible and low.
First of all, when I arrived I waited around for HOURS because their credit card machine was down and I couldn’t check in. I felt as though they could’ve provided some complimentary beverages or snacks to make up for the inconvenience, but all I got was excuses. The room itself was decent, but it lacked natural lighting. In fact, there was NO natural lighting as the windows were covered with some sort of tent. It’s a dimly lit hotel, with even dimmer decor so my brain was under constant impression that it was night time. I spotted a few stains on the sheets/towels and that made for an uncomfortable stay as well. Overall, I would only recommend this hotel if you’re in town for a 24-48 hour visit.
????? If you’re staying at the Moxy Hotel in New Orleans, I hope you have the pleasure of meeting Hollis. In a world where exceptional customer service can be hard to find, Hollis truly stands out. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with a genuine smile, positive energy, and a sincere desire to make sure we had a great experience. He went above and beyond in every interaction—offering helpful recommendations, making sure we had everything we needed, and treating us like valued guests rather than just another reservation. What impressed me most was that his kindness never felt forced or scripted. It was authentic. He clearly takes pride in his work and genuinely enjoys making people feel welcome. That level of hospitality made a lasting impression on us and elevated our entire stay. The Moxy Hotel is fortunate to have someone like Hollis representing its brand. Employees like him are the reason guests return and recommend a hotel to others. Thank you, Hollis, for your outstanding hospitality and for making our visit to New Orleans even more memorable. We can’t wait to come back!
If you're looking for a nice enough hotel on a budget, this is your place. The room itself is fine, but we were welcomed by an awful smell. Almost like seafood-y. Once you're in the room for a while its basically unnoticeable. It was clean for the most part. You cannot expect a luxury experience but I would have appreciated shampoo in the shower instead of hand soap, for example. They're a Marriott hotel and I am sure its manageable. A trashcan inside the bathroom is a must -also not there. Little mishap like a couple of hairs in the shower and a stained bed cover but it's not that serious. On the other hand? Their staff was amazing. Everyone from the check-in counter to every other employee we were in contact with was fantastic. Needed a mini fridge? They got it. Checked in late? They handled. Recommendations for restaurants? They got you. And with a genuine smile. We picked them because they're pet friendly and this is in fact the second location we have visited. So, if your intention is walking around and experiencing the city? This place is perfect. Nice little room that needs a little love, but otherwise, I'd be happy to stay here again.
If I could give this hotel negative stars I would! I recently traveled to New Orleans from Florida for my birthday. Our stay was booked earlier in the week. Our stay was supoosed to be 4/11/2026-4/13/2026. We arrived on 4/11/2026 around 7:30pm. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lady at the front desk who asked us if we were checking in. We said yes and gave her the name for the reservation. The lady grabbed two pieces of paper and told told us that unfortunately the hotel double booked and they did not have a room for us. We checked our phones for a phone call, text message and email to see if we were notified or contacted about this but we weren't. I explained that we had been traveling all day and all we wanted to do was check in, drop our bags off and go eat because we were hungry. She said we could not do that because there wasn't a room for us. When I asked why weren't we contacted, the lady said she didn't know. I asked if I could talk to a manager and she explained that he was upstairs checking rooms but should be down soon so we waited. Shortly after, a man came to the front desk. I asked him if he was the manager and he said yes. I asked him if there were any rooms available and he said no. I asked him why weren't we contacted since we had a reservation and he also said, "I don't know." To make matters worse, they did absolutely nothing to try and accommodate us for the inconvenience. They didn't even try to find us a room at another hotel or attempt any type of assistance. Both of their attitudes were nonchalant and as if they didn't care or couldn't be bothered. Thankfully I called the Hilton and they were able to find a room at one of their hotels on St. Charles. The Hilton provided us with excellent customer service and even comped us a $75 food voucher for the inconvenience of your establishment. I would never stay at the Moxy let alone recommend anyone to stay here.
I’m still waiting on fresh towels! I wish I could give it no stars. No fitted sheets on the bed. The hot water literally trickled from the sink. We went to get food around 2:30am and the service was trash. The bartender was dry and rude. The wings and fries were microwaved. Liked the aesthetic, hated everything else.
As an elite member who travels frequently, this hotel is is the worse one I have stayed at. Only one elevator was working during our stay, and there was no ETA on when the other would be fixed. That meant waits of up to 30 minutes just to get downstairs or back to the room, which was incredibly inconvenient. On top of that, the AC in the lobby was out the entire time we were there. We also had to switch rooms because our original room smelled like a sewage backup, and that process was slow and frustrating. Unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here. This brand is usually much more reliable, but this location felt worn out, poorly maintained, and not very clean.
First & foremost it was a lil different from the hotels I've stayed at. I had three windows & a view of the streets surrounding hotel. I ask for hangers & was brought extras. Joshua, the front desk manager & Elisha, the Housekeeping manager were very accommadating to our requests & very pleasant & professional. Thank you!!!
Best part of stay was Josh. He was very friendly and helpful. I felt the hallway and entrance were a bit dirty. The room was 2 queen. No mini frig. Only a card table chair to sit on. Bathroom was shower only and toliet - sink was outside bathroom. The ice machine did not work on our floor. About half the lights were not working in the elevator. Valet parking was offered but we opted for 24hr parking garage for $25/day just across from hotel. This is better option if not using your car during stay.
We stayed from tuesday to saturday on mardi gras weekend, the staff was super nice, there are plenty of good restaurants nearby, the room was clean and ample. It was far enough from the craziness of bourbon st. Also the price was unbeatable. Would definitely recommend staying here. I dont understand the picky reviews.
