Roami at Motorworks receives mixed reviews, primarily praising its stylish design and convenient location within the Warehouse District. However, recurring concerns highlight issues with inconsistent cleanliness, malfunctioning amenities (e.g., keypads, appliances), and unreliable customer service, particularly regarding maintenance response times and initial check-in procedures. Recent reviews indicate a decline in service quality and property upkeep compared to previous stays.
Roami at Motorworks is a design lover's dream! The conversion of this historic industrial space is incredible—the high ceilings, exposed brick, and massive windows give it such a cool, authentic Warehouse District vibe. The apartment was huge, impeccably decorated, and felt much more like a luxury home than a hotel. If you want a stay with actual character and style, this is the place.
We booked here last minute after another property fell through and honestly wish we had done more research. The rooms look very nice online and have loads of potential in person as well, but its clear this is some foreign company posing as a hotel chain with less than stellar hotel service. We booked for a 1 bed/1 bath room and ended up with a 2 bed/1.5 bath upon arrival. Not upset, just very confused on why this was the room we ended up in after booking on the phone with a representative 1 hour before this. As mentioned by others, the electric key pad was temperamental and the instructions on the wall do not explain how to work them properly. When we first entered the unit we were amazed, it's a nice historical renovation with modern flare and nice finishes. But unfortunately it's more or less smoke in mirrors. We quickly discovered the place was barely cleaned from what seems like the last years worth of tenants. Makeup smudges on the walls/furniture, dried spills on counters and tables, cabinet doors falling off their hinges when you try to open them, dirt and dust everywhere, a half bath with the toilet not secured to the ground properly, and strange smells in the upstairs bathroom accompanied by mold and a broken bathroom fan (pretty sure this is a violation of code standards as you are expected to have a working fan or a window in all bathrooms for ventilation). Save yourself the headache and just book with an actual hotel. It is clear this foreign company does not care about customer service or experience and only cares about making as much money as they can get away with.
The room was below my expectations. Charged as much or more than one of the chain hotels, with way less to offer. The location was good. Everything else was very disappointing as far as the rooms concern. I would not recommend. I realize the location is historical, however basic maintenance of the property not good
horrendous Airbnb. Not sure how this place is still able to function and host people to stay here. A homeless person lives there and knows the codes to all the airbnbs in the building due to lack of management changing the door codes. The place is absolutely disgusting and smells like sewage 24/7. Trust the reviews and book elsewhere. The showers don’t drain properly and overall the place just feels so dirty.
A really nice stay. My biggest grip was all the stuff on the patio was basically useless. The jacuzzi was empty and growing stuff in it and most of the patio furniture was cloth that was falling apart and soaked in water. The rest of the place was great though if you don't care about hanging out on the patio.
I would not stay here again. I requested an early check in (2pm vs 4pm) as we were arriving with elderly Seniors. I was toId I could get free early check in if I completed and texted proof of a Google review, even though I had not arrived and never stayed there. I completed the review (since deleted), shared screenshot only to be told they could not accommodate. None of the bedroom tvs had remotes. Blinds in all of the rooms were in horrible shape, and the cleanliness standard was not very high. The location is noisy and you hear EVERYTHING through what has to be single pane windows. The young lady at the front entrance desk struggled to answer simple questions (language barrier). There is convenient parking in a garage across the street that was well secured. We did initially have an issue with the smart locks, the young man on site responded quickly and it was resolved.

DO NOT STAY HERE — THEY ARE SCAMMING! It was 1:00 AM, and I had still not received any response regarding the ongoing ant infestation in this unit. The conditions are completely unsanitary and uninhabitable, forcing me to relocate at my own expense. Additionally, the washing machine issue was never addressed, causing further inconvenience and financial loss since I could not wash my infested clothing or complete prior obligations. There was no housekeeping provided, and I only received one set of towels for the entire stay. I made multiple attempts to contact your team throughout the day with no response. This lack of communication and failure to resolve serious maintenance and sanitation issues constitutes a breach of the rental agreement. I am demanding an immediate resolution, including a full refund and reimbursement for all related expenses. To make matters worse, four days after I checked out, the host attempted to charge me $750 for an alleged “smell of marijuana.” This is completely false and defamatory — I am a Christian woman who does not smoke or use any drugs. I feel deeply disrespected and unfairly targeted, and it appears I’m being racially profiled.
The code didn't work to get in the building. Someone was there leaving and gave us a code that did work. Our room code did work thankfully. The next day the code to the building was changed and became the same code to our room. I'm assuming that's what it should have been all along so they know who is accessing the building. Online it looked sparse but all we needed. We took a camp chair for extra seating but it turned out to be the most comfortable seat in the place. The beds were obviously platform beds in the pictures but hard to tell they were only a foot off the ground. Still comfortable But very short for tall people. Hard to get up if you have medical issues or are larger sized. Also beds have slats that move. Had problems with one bed the whole time, the slats kept moving and one was broke. Host was not able to get maintenance to fix it satisfactorily and we complained every day. All they did was put it back in place, never replaced it. Had to turn around and sleep at end of the bed the last 2 nights. The door to the main bedroom didn't shut good, the hinge at the top was almost broke and the door dragged the ground. Host was unable to get maintenance to fix it or even touch it. Hallway toilet was broke from day one! Handle didn't work and the chain broke. They did fix the chain the second day. But the handle had to be replaced and we had to take the back off and flush manually using the chain. Maint came every day and never fully fixed it. Bedrooms' spaces very are cramped. Barely enough room to move around. After a ton of walking every day, you expect to be able to sit comfortably but there wasn't anywhere to do that. The couch is a pull out and every part of it is uncomfortable. It says no smoking, but there was a lot of times we smelled smokers AND Weed. Very strong, the smell filled our rooms several times and nothing we could do about it. Parking is not far and easy walk, $20 a day. but there was parking on the street that was free because a giant off road vehicle sat there all week. Trolley/streetcar is a close walk, so is WW2 museum. That's the best thing I can say about this place. I noticed after my review on vrbo, the listing is removed. Even the link on google maps doesn't work on vrbo. This is the last vrbo or airbnb for us for a while. I need to know if there are problems, I can at least get another room if they can't fix something. Do yourself a favor and go to a hotel.
Edit: Ended up canceling the reservation after waiting an hour and finding somewhere else to stay. Obviously can’t rate the rooms, but I would recommend steering clear based solely on the customer service and other reviews. Currently sitting on hold for 20 minutes. We were supposed to check in at 4. Was told a code would be coming. It hasn’t. And no one is answering. We can’t get into the building we paid to stay in and instead are standing outside in the heat. This is absurd.
