The Garden District Hotel consistently receives positive feedback for its charming atmosphere, convenient location near the St. Charles streetcar, and beautiful pool area. Guests frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff, particularly mentioning individuals like Raul and Amia. However, some recent reviews have raised concerns about noise levels and dampness in certain rooms.
Loved loved loved this hotel! The pool was amazing, rooms and hotel very clean and comfortable. The bed and linens were soft and cozy. All the staff we encountered were very friendly! Will definitely stay here every time we are in NOLA??
?You couldn't ask for a better home base in New Orleans. Being right on St. Charles Avenue means the streetcar stops almost at your front door, making it so easy to get to the French Quarter or Uptown. The hotel captures that classic Garden District elegance but still feels fresh and updated. We loved being able to walk to nearby restaurants and then relax in a quiet, comfortable room. 5 stars for location and style!
This is the place to stay in New Orleans! You're within walking distance to the trolley and can even walk over to the Garden District/Magazine Street and the French District if you're feeling adventurous. The hotel was pristine and has well thought out details in the design. The pool was amazing! Every interaction we had the staff was great. They would check in with us and give recommendations which was greatly appreciated.
My boyfriend and I stayed at GDH for M-F for a little vacation. The hotel is fabulously decorated, reasonably priced, and has a gorgeous pool area. The pool is what really got me to book. Staff were all friendly. There aren't many of them so please have some patience. I wish we had been able to stay an extra day. The pool was calling me. I took a star off for the noise and the room. I'm not sure about second floor rooms or the rooms that have an exterior door, but our room was on the 1st floor and in the interior "courtyard". We could hear everyone clear as day in the hallway, anyone above us, and anyone next to us. Everyone was pretty quiet for the most part. It was really just in the morning once housekeeping starting cleaning. So loud. A family checked in on our second or third night there and the kids were running up and down the hall while we were relaxing in the room. I opened the door and stared down the dad so he finally did something. Like, seriously? The room was beautiful but it was constantly damp. It wasn't even hot weather during our stay so that was offputting. The internet was also on and off during our stay. The TVs are massive and honestly a bit much for the room size lol. GDH is close to the streetcar but it does not run on time so be prepared to wait. If you have a resveration, leave extra early OR get a ride share. Overall, would stay here again!
After being stranded in New Orleans and unable to get to NYC due to the snowstorm, we chose the Garden District Hotel as our "safe harbor," and we couldn't be happier. From the moment we walked in, Amia at the front desk saw our distress and went above and beyond, letting us check in early and even giving us an upgrade. It was such a relief to see her smiling face again when we checked out—she is truly awesome! However, what made our stay unforgettable was Raul. His support, his incredible recommendations, and the genuine joy he brings to his work were the highlights of our trip. His overall personality made our stay so memorable; I would honestly come back just to see him again! A huge thank you also to his manager for supporting his team and ensuring our stay was one of the best parts of our time in New Orleans.
I stayed here one night in the midst of Mardi Gras weekend to have some refreshment time alone after-&-before-lots of social fun. It was perfect. Mia was really kind & helpful in getting me checked in. After a quick walk one block over to see some of the parade, I returned to the bar & Raul made me a delish Corpse Reviver #2 cocktail that I enjoyed in the heated pool. It was such a nice evening of chilling prior to Mardi Gras day festivities. Only mild complaint was that I could hear a good bit of noise from the hallway, but hey, it was a night I knew folks would be having a good time -- and a pair of earplugs was enough to still get good sleep.
Stayed in loft room Sunday Feb 15. Even before check-in, the correspondence with hotel staff Ryan was helpful, prompt and professional. We arrived too early for check-in, and front desk staff Madison was not only gorgeous but anazing! She checked our bags and then brought them up to our room while we were at the parade! We live on northshore and stay in city alot, and this was hands down the BEST hotel stay, customer service, and accommodations. Will be regulars???
Stayed recently @ The Garden District Hotel for 3 nights. Highly recommend. The property is beautifully designed/appointed, impeccably maintained, sparkling clean. Enjoyed all aspects of our stay. The staff are particularly lovely and accommodating. We enjoyed gracious assistance from front desk staff/manager (MATT, AMIA, RYAN) and enjoyed terrific drinks prepared @ their inviting and intimate cocktail spot by very personable barmen (JAKE, JONAH, JULIAN, RAUL). Outdoor spaces were just as beautiful as inside…amazing pool and courtyard.
We stayed at The Garden District Hotel for 3 days and 2 nights in January and had a truly lovely experience! Visiting in winter meant the hotel felt calm, quiet, and very private — almost intimate — which we really loved. Our king room was spacious, with a big, comfortable bed. We especially enjoyed the street-facing windows and the wooden blinds, which made the room feel cozy and gave us great control over light and privacy. One very cool and unexpected highlight was that the pool is open 24/7 for hotel guests. We ended up having a late-night swim completely to ourselves, which felt special and unforgettable. A small note for future guests: our room had a wine cooler instead of a traditional mini fridge and no microwave. This wasn’t an issue for us, but worth knowing. We stayed on the first floor, and while you can hear some creaking from the floor above and a bit of street noise, the neighborhood itself is very calm both day and night. Overall, we really loved our stay and had a great experience with the staff. Special thanks to Matt and Ryan for their wonderful hospitality!
Awesome stay! The room was immaculate and welcoming, perfect for a weekend getaway. The pool was calm and serene to help me unwind. And the service was top notch from Ryan helping me book, Matt getting me all checked in LATE, Amiya’s hospitality and Jake in helping me brave the French quarter for some bomb poutine. Garden District hotel is a gem, convenient to anything you want, but secluded enough for when you want to get away and relax.
